Hi,

I’m restoring a 75’ 280z. Finally got the engine in and running, but after starting the engine will not turn off unless I pull the coil plug from the distributor. I even pulled the ignition connector and the coil still has power whenever the batter is connected. Would a bad starter relay cause this to happen or should I look elsewhere? Trying to track this down.
Edit: whoever wired in the radio before shorted out the fuse panel.

Thank you,
Thank you,
Tim

Was the car running before you started the work? Could this problem have existed before your efforts?
Was the car modified for an internally regulated alternator?
What do you mean by "a bad starter relay"? There is no such component on the 280Z.
Is the car a manual or automatic?
If it is a manual, is there any chance a previous owner converted it from an automatic?
Have you downloaded a copy of the wiring diagram? http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/wiringdiagrams/75_280z_wiring.pdf
Do you have the ability to use a multimeter?
