I got my p/s pump off, and I aalso has to drain my coolant so that I could move that hose so I could see what I was doing. But now I have another question. Looking at the alternator (still hooked up) from the passenger side ot the car there are four connections to the alternator.

On the side that is closest to the passenger side there are two connections, one is female and one is like a bolt on connection. Both are connected.

On the drivers side there are also two connections. One is the bolt on type and is connected. The last connection is a female plug (connector) and has one flat copper connection in the middle of it, it is black. It is NOT hooked up. What is it, is this why my battery would not be functioning? I cannot find any unplugged wires in that area?

Suggestions;help?

thanks alot guys and gals.

is it on the end of a wire that connects to a barrell type thingy thats bolted under the black post....if so....mine has the female connector wired into the wire bolt-on (I'm guessing the positive out). They are plugged together...but I think its just for noise reduction of the charging circuit...don't think it would make it not charge...Check you battery connections...I thought my alt was going out until I figured out that my positive bat lead was dirty and with the dome light on for hours working on it....wasn't charging the bat quick enough and was showing bad on the gauge......mines a '83zx
