can anyone point me in the direction to this trouble, the car runs sweet when warm, starts easy in morning, but won't hold a idle till a little warm, if I use the choke for even a little to warm it it fouls the plugs instantly( seems anyway)
ok, I have SU'S , new ngk plugs gapped to .40 . electronic ignition, , I have tried going leaner, but same trouble
so any ideas??
the car is stock, l28 motor with su's in a 71 z

RE: cold blooded, plug fouling 71z

I was having the same problem with my 73, but I still had the dual mechaincal points. But before I switched to electronics I noticed if I pressed down on my distributor, the car would run great. No missing, no fouling, and a strong idle. My distributor shaft was worn out and had a small amount of wobble in it. The minute I put in a new distributor shaft all my idle problems stopped. The engine would idle in any kind of weather. Just a thought. Good luck.
