I have an 80 ZX 2+2, and the other day it started making a clicking, metal to metal sounding noise coming from the left rear wheel. It is sometimes intermittent, and only starts after I apply the brakes a good first time. And when I do apply brakes, the noise is subdued quite a bit, but can still faintly hear it. Anyone have any thoughts at all? Appreciate it.

I used to have this sound exactly.. My problem was that the shims that go with the rear brakes were worn and got loose.. So anytime they were desturbed it would click click click click.. drove me nuts.. I replacd the brakes and shimms. I also used some anti squeel goo that came with it.. The problem is no more.. My brake pads were not worn all the way but I replaced them just to have it done..Good luck man.. LaterZ

ARRRGH!

I had that same problem and I HATED IT SO F*ING BAD!

It sucked because at the time I didnt have the money to redo the rear brakes (yes I know pads are cheap, but rent isnt!)

I remember driving down a crowded street in my ZXT, riding the e-brake slightly so people wouldnt think my Zcar is a piece of junk!

oh yeah

This was the most annoying thing in my life, and it stumped me. I greased all the shafts, thought then it was my wheelbearings, and eventually my freind, a mechanic tore my wheel off, pulled the caliper, took the 2 little spring clips and bent them open a bit more with a pair of needle noze pliars, and re installed everything. Problem solved.
