hello as i have posted before i broke my 71 240z distributer i had an pertronix ignitor in it and am wondering if i would be better off installing a 280z distributer instead ??? and if so what year and what do i need to order to get it to fit?? like a base plate or ???? or should i just get the 240z distributer and stick with the ignitor that ive got??? please help i need to make a decision to get this car back on the road.....thankyou michele

We have been running the Pertronix in our Z for two years now and have been very pleased. Many have had them longer and are happy. But many are happy with the 280z dist. as well.

Go with the dist. that is cheaper, or easier to find. In my mind, as long as its electronic ignition, you can't go wrong.

hello what do i need to install an zx dist.??? ic module..base plate??? or just bolt it in??? and what about the tach??? will the stock 71 240z tach work with the zx dist????? thankyou michele

Hey michele, I've been running a '79 zx dizzy in my 260 with no problems. I even went to the GM HEI ignition module ($16) 'cause the nissan module is so expensive ($200). However, you can get a rebuilt '79 dizzy with ignition module for $150 at any part store. You will need the '79 mounting/adj bracket and a 12v coil (MSD blaster 2). I also went with zx plugs, made for wider gap. Hope this helps.
