hey everyone..

i have a parts car im turning into a race car.im a chevy nut but ive always loved the 240`s and im quite interested in seeing what i can get out of a stock datsun motor......here`s what i have it`s a 73 240z 2.4 block with an E88 head, round top su carbs and a two into one header, a 4 speed trans, and 3:50 rear (according to the manual) it lays posi but im sure it`s an open end rear. the motor runs great and i think it`s been rebuilt and everything is stock....ive adapted an HEI dist.and coil from a 78 250 chevy six cyl and locked the advance... im also mounting the float bowls else where i don`t like them over the header! and making it ram air. i have a lot of ideas for this car has anyone ever thought about running 2 chevy six cyl carbs? let me know what you think.

Re: Not a Chevy

This is not meant as a dis...

You need to leave the "Chevy" thinking behind and spend some time understanding "NIssan" thinking before you start tinkering with your new car. There are a lot of really good reasons why the SU carbs are on the car and why the float bowls are where they are. Replacing the sidedraft SU carbs with downdraft Carters, Holley's, or Rochesters doesn't work very well.

Again, spend some time understanding why Nissan did things they way they did. They were pretty smart folks. Good luck with the car and have fun!
