Is there any special way for keeping the camshaft from turning while pulling the camshaft sproket, right now i've got a 3/8 rachet extension in going through one of the holes on the sproket, but with the pressure i'm applying to the bolt i afraid that i might damage the sproket, because that bolt on there is not comeing loose very easily so far. any help would be appriciated

Whatever you do DON'T use a breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt, and turn the chain to loosen the cam nut.
I did that once and sheared off the locator pin on the end of the cam.

Lock a pair of vice grips on the ' wings' between the cam lobes, and set it against the passenger side of the head.

thanks ,i got it off, now i've just got to remove the rocker arms, cam and all that other good stuff, but leave the valves, then carry it to the shop to get it checked out.
