how hard is it to install a cam. Does it have to go in any certian way. I have the head of my engine off, and the timing cover, i figured i should put a cam in, like a 480 lift or something. Is it worth it. where is cheapest and best place to buy from.

I have a F54 block with a rebuilt P79 head, flat top pistons, eletronic egnition, Header, 2.5inch ezaust, 4 barrel manifold with a carter competition series carb (around 5-600 cfm). and a 5 speed tranny. Does it sound like a well peforming engine. I think that the wild cam will help it run better. I was also wondering what kind of head gasket should i put on, will any up the compression, what is the best buy for my buck.

Thanks for your help

Cam install is super easy with the head off...just slide it in, and put the rockers on. 600 cfm is alot!! Hope you have a jet kit, and metering rods for that carter. I used a crane cam part # 168-0012 .450 lift 272/282, if you run a bigger cam you have to run the stiffer springs, retainers, and thicker rocker guides, if you dont want to float valves. Don't forget new rockers, the originals will have a wear pattern, you dont want to translate to your new bumpstick. Don't forget to put the supplied cam plug in, or your valve train will say " SEE YA". have fun
