While replacing the water pump on my '71 Z, the larger (12mm head) bolts broke off at the threads in the engine block mounting points. I put the replacement pump on but have only have the 3 (10mm) bolts securing the unit to the engine. I'm concerned that this is not enough and I'll start leaking once the engine is at speed and at temperature.

Extract the remnants or re-tap the holes? Anybody had this situation? Anyway to anticipate when you are in danger of breaking a critical bolt? (I've had this happen in other areas of the car before but have been able to recover...) Thanks...
