Big Red's miss

These are a couple of vids I took illustrating the miss I am having under full boost. They occure only when boosting over 13PSI. I still have some ideas but it cant hurt to share with the masses.

I sincerely hope that you have already re-gapped your plugs. If you're running higher than stock boost, you should lessen the spark plug gap according to what I have read. I had this EXACT problem until I lowered my gap.
Oh and BTW: I am currently running 16psi of boost. The car was running 23psi when I bought it. Previous owner did bunches of racing tuning. I backed it off because 23psi will shorten the life of your engine. I use a Greddy Profec II Boost controller with my low set to 5psi (normal driving) and my high at 16psi (not normal driving)....
Dave, you got my email right?
.028 NGK PFR6B11b? (I think that's the designation)

Next place to look is boost leakage. If you haven't done a test yet, do it.
How old are your turbos? Have you checked them to see if they are functioning good? They could always use a visually inspection. I agree though, do a boost leak test.
All of the above has been done. Turbos are new, timing light is suspect.
Miss is gone and life is good again, I cannot explain why my engine insists on running at 12DBTDC, but it insists.
Your timing was off? Glad it was that simple. You were running 12 at idle?
May a new CAS is in order Z-addict?

Do you have the dreaded 90 year? You have a 93 if memory serves correctly however.
Is it also possible the bracket the CAS bolts to may be bent and it's not securing right? So it works it way back to 12?
No and no. The CAS is new, old CAS performs the same. Nothing is bent. Engine runs well at 12DBTDC.
Why, dunno, and frankly, don't care.....Yes, it's a 93 car, but who knows what year the engine is.... It's all new anyway.....
weird. How does it keep getting back to 12 then?
It doesn't, If I set it at 12 it works great, if I set it at 15 it runs poorly.

Nothing wrong with 90s. that whole 'soft valve' issue effected a batch of 1000 or so heads. You'd be hard pressed to find one that hasnt failed or been fixed yet. The 90 uses the same equipment as the 91-93 in the engine
I vote FUNKY timing light... that's why I bought a snap on ( used from E bay ) 40 bucks!

Mike
Don't 90's have a problem with the heads machined wrong so that they were out something in the CAS? I hope it is a bad timing light. Good luck!
I posted a LONG time ago about the 90 head issue.... and Lum is correct about there were only a few...
BUT...oninous if your interested. search my OLD posts...

Mike
Heads and valves are new anyway. Two different T-lights agree. I think my engine is just special.

Cas has nothing to do with the machining of the head. two completely separate pieces.
