well after many months of swaping,mating, and fabracating, the beast lives

BUT.......

after start up the **** thing won't shut off when the key is turned off.
i have looked through the wiring diagrams and stuff and haven't found a solution.

my dad says that after it starts the alt. is entergized(sp?) and there is some short so's the car is running off power the alt. is giving off.

any solutions or should i call an exhorsist?

ideas?

I built a streetrod about eight years ago and put in a one wire alt. They weren't too common then and the guy who built it for me didn't really give me any instructions other than to tie it to the ignition switch so that it would excite the field and carry the load.
The rig wouldn't turn off.
I don't know if you'll hurt the ECU but a quick way to eliminate the alternator as your problem is to disconnect it and see if the car can be shut off.
If the car still won't shut off look at your ign. switch and make sure that when you turn it off the lead for ign. is dead.
If that checks you'll have to work down the line until you find where your mystery power source is coming from.
May be easier to start at the coil and work back, with the key off check for power at your + terminal at the coil, should be dead, if not trace it back until you find it.
Hope this helps some, electrical problems are always a tedious chore.
