Ok so here's something new. Took out my battery the other day but the hold down bar screw (the one attached to the back of the engine bay) just broke off. Only the head of the screw broke off. The rest is embedded in the back wall. I don't see how I can get the screw out so I'm thinking of just drilling two holes, one on either side of the screw and attaching the bar to those. What's the chance I'll hit a wire or something important right behind the battery? I don't know what's behind there and I don't want to seriously mess something up by drilling a couple holes in there.

Try center punching the remainder of the screw and drill it out starting with a small bit and work your way up to a bit less diameter than the threads and you may be able to reuse the original hole. Or re-tap it.
