My ball joints on my 83 280ZX are missing the rubber boots. Should I go ahead and replace them or will they be alright? their still good but I worry that perhaps dirt will get in them and mess them up anyway. Kip

I guess it depends on how long the ball joint have been missing the rubber boots. They should be replaced. I have a '78 and they are easy to replace. I am not sure about your '83. Get a Haynes/Chilton or better yet, if you can find one, a Clymer manual. It will explain how to change them.
I don't think they sell just the boots. Mine turned into goo. when i went looking for just the boots they just had the whole ball joint.
