197 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Z240zdude
got ready to re-ring the high compression motor going in my 75,,,had bought new rings on ebay, ring compressor, bottle brush hone,,,,pulled the motor apart today. the rings were sticking REAL BAD, and the cylinder had a nice glaze to it. went to check and make sure the rings were the right thickness,,,,,DOH!!!! the top ring is too thick!!!

the top and second ring will fit in the second groove nicely, but neither will fit in the top groove. i beleive this block is from an 81-82 zx,,,,is the top groove 1mm and the second is 1.5mm???

anybody wanna trade for a BRAND NEW ring set?

Sounds like someone sold you a set of 75-79 rings (for dished pistons)
It can't be no worse than what I went through recently. I bought a new set of rings for my L-24, 0.20 over because the bores was already this size, and I wanted to do a re-ring also. So I slid them into the bores to do a ring endgap measurement and the bores are shot! I was not a happy camper! So yes, BAH!
