I finished pulling the entire junkyard turbo engine apart . I had mixed reactions on what I found . The good news is all pistons, bearings combustion chambers look good. The bad news is that the engine sat for 8 years and two valves were open #6 sustained heavy rust scale . The rings are bonded into the pistons lands . The rust looks much worst than it is . I believe cylinder honing and a fresh set of rings will do the job . The head needs to be cleaned and checked for cracks . If the f54 block turns out to be junk the turbo head is going on my old block . If it was stored properly the engine would have ran beautifully .

RE: Turbo Engine Project Update

It is always kinda amazing that an engine that doesn't get used will suffer so much damage. I hope your project progresses without too many hitches. After rebuilding mine twice I can tell you that it pays to double-check all work done by other parties BEFORE you put it on the engine.
