I have a 73 240Z. I'm getting ready to change carbs to the earlier SU type. My problem is the ball joints in the throttle linkage. I have read the book on how to restore your z car. In this book it talks about popping off the plastic "cap". All my popping has lead to broken plastic caps. please note the "s" on cap. Is there a good tip or trick to doing this? I have soaked the caps with WD40 overnight. Same result.... I sure could use a tip here...

HELP!!!!!!

RE: Needing a good tip - throttle linkage

Book aint wrong..they do pop off. maybe use something like the claw of a hammer, put pressure on both sides of socket, maybe it'll lift off squarely instead of prying 1 little portion
