What is the proper allowance for ring end gap? My Haynes book says something different than the Chilton ARRRG!!! In my case 1 book says I pass the other says I fail. Anyone have some input to share I am concerned about it.
Ring end gap is a calculation in most cases - not a number.
It should be 0.0035" per inch of cylinder diameter. In other words multiply 0.0035 times your bore in inches.
Side clearance should be 0.002 - 0.004".
Hope that clears it up for you.
