RE: HALTECH? TECHII? DFI? What is the best?

Go get a copy of the May issue of GM High Tech Performance. It has an article on all the currently available fuel injection systems as well as a nifty table showing the features of each. As far as the best? Well that depends on your budget and purpose. If you have to have the coilpacks, go with the TECHII or the SDS. The tech II has more features, the SDS is cheaper. Some of the other models have coilpack ability, but it's a little harder to install. If you refuse to buy a laptop, then the SDS is your only choice. Yes you can buy a handheld programmer for the Accel, but then you might as well buy a cheap laptop! If you throw out the Motec, the price difference on all these models is really only a couple of hundred dollars, taking in to account the models with the coilpacks built in.
--Whats' your budget? MAXIMUM ammount you are willing to spend?
--Any features you must have? datalogging, coilpack, wideband O2, etc
--Intended purpose. Racing, dual purpose, set it once and forget it street use.
--Want to install and tune it completely yourself, or willing to let a pro tune it?

As you can see it's hard to pick the very best one, you havre to pick the best one for your purpose. None of them are going to make more horsepower than the others. It's all in the features, tuning, and ease of use. Answer the above questions and we can help you pick a system out.

Greg.....absolutely brilliant response. Personally I do not think for the average Z owner one will make more HP than the other. The results you get is greatly dependent on your input to the system. Garbage in, garbage out. Your choice depends on your budget and whether or not the extra features are worth it to you.
