I just purchased a 4:11 r180 rearend out of a 85 200sx non turbo. I plan to put this in my 240. Just asknig if anyone has done this before. It looks like the axles hook on differently. The 240 axles bolt on with a flange and the 200 sx's look like they pop in or something. Thats my other question, Does anyone know how to remove the axles from the 200 sx rearend. Please help I would appreciate it.

Thank You

RE: 4:11 rearend swap PLEASE HELP

I don't think that page will help adam. One of the datsun 510 pages has an article on swapping R180 rear ends. It probably has what you need, but I don't have my bookmarks handy. It's calles something like the five and dime page (datsun 510--get it?) Do a search on your end and I'll look on mine and we'll see who wins.

Questions about 4.11

i thought that if you wanted to swap a 4.11 it should be a R200. My question to all of you is is a 4.11 really worth it i understand it is a better fit but someone told me it realy slows your top speed down and is not worth it so i would like any of your opinions on the 4.11
thanks

RE: Questions about 4.11

I haven't seen the article that says some 200sx non-turbos came with a 4.11 R180.
All the non-turbos I've seen in the junkyard have a round differential with "solid" halfshaft tube that bolts into the wheel hub.
So while the '85-86 turbos had the 4.11 R200, IMHO, it doesn't make sense that the Datsun would use both a 4.11 R180 and R200 on a 4-cylinder. Could that article be a misprint?

changing the side axles

Adam, Michael at our business has recently converted a few of these for Z cars. You may call him at 1-800-533-5659 for info. I know it isn't any big deal, as it only took him a half hour or less. Regards, Joe
