I have a 1988 300 ZX 2+2. I had the automatic transmission rebuilt about a year ago. The car runs great. The only problem is when slowing to a stop, at 25 mph, it clunks. I was told this was normal and continued to drive it that way even though it annoyed me. About a month ago the clunk turned into a clank and I had to have the U-Joint repaired. It's back to driving good but continues to clunk. It's been back to the transmission shop and they can't seem to figure it out. I had the transmission mount replaced and it helped a lot. It only clunks when slowing down and only at 25 mph. Any information would be helpful. Thanks. Joy

Check the diff mount. That is the most common cause of clunking.
