I have an 83 280zxt and I was wondering if this work on it. It says it works on vehicles with a hot wire map sensor. Does the 83 280zxt have this? Also has anyone installed one of these if so: How hard is it to install? also How much of a difference does it make, i ask this because I've heard the ecu retrains itself after a couple thousand miles to counter act the AFC.

Thanks

I don't know if it'll work, but the zxt doesn't have a hot wire map sensor. it used a flap style air flow meter to measure the air going into the car.

MAP: Manifold Air Pressure
MAF: Mass Air Flow
AFM: Air Flow Meter

3 different ways of measuring roughly the same thing. Make sure you refer to them properly, the terms are not interchangeable.

Received this nice email from "surfer18":

My comment should help you quite a bit, if you understood the differences in the methods of the sensors then the question would answer itself. Although I could have answered with a simple "No it won't work" you wouldn't have believed me. So instead I started an explanation in the hope that you would realize your car has a AFM and not a MAF.
