I would wait for the real experts but I get the feeling that it's not big enough (40 vs 44) to let in all the air you want/need....

if you want the full benefit of the extra displacement then a big motor like that needs nothing less than 45's!

I would stick with the 40's and run 36mm chokes if your cammed up enough. Whats the compression?

I run a 3.OL on 40's its plenty of carb for 243 rwhp at sea level.
