My 280ZX is rusted really bad not a clean body pannel on it(the hatch and possibly the hood are savable) and the frame is shot, the paint doesnt look to grand, now my suspension ts completely worn out so many ratles and squeeks its not even funny, the dash is cracked the seats are tore up carpet is toast(everything else is fair th door panels are in petty good shape), the brakes squeek loud and drag a little(need new rotors), and my exhaust is peiced together and leaks. I'd like to fix it but its would cost alot more than I'm willing to spend. And I cant find a decent replacement.

Heres the good part, the drive train is great! runs good, has alot of power, revs nice and smooth, uses no oil, automatic transmission shifts smooth(dad says its the slickist tranmission hes ever seen being and auto).

I love to drive it, but its so ugly it makes me look bad and I'm tired of looking at it. I cant find a decent cheap Z, and I dont want any other kind of car. Anyone else have this problem????

Just needed to vent. Seeing that old lady driving near perfect white 280ZX. Never seen it before, almost brought a tear to my eye it looked so good. that just put me over the edge on my car.

I defintely feel u on this one. u just described my basic situation and i know it really sux. all i got to say is just dont give up. i found an awesome 82 turbo that i plannin on buying. it has only had one owner and is garaged kept since it was new. a friend of mine at school drives it, it was his dad's but was given to him as a first car. believe it or not he hates it and i love it. it's all orignal paint has no chips scratches or ne thing. interior is perfect, only z ive ever seen without a cracked dash. has only 117,000 miles on. its great!!!! he is a junior and wants to sell it for a new car for his senior year next year. and luckily i'm the first bidder. his dad wanted 5000 for it but i convinced him i had to have it and could only give him 3000. im really excited, i have until next august to save enuf to hopefully buy it unless he gets a better deal. (keepin fingers crossed). right now its the only thing on my wish list but i hope somehow it come true. just keep on searchin never know what is bound to turn up.

looking as you describe just might be the best security device you could want...
who would steal it????...but I would fix that rust...Good Luck... )

I dont have to worry about stuff like that here(Ashland, Ky). I could have a perfect car sitting in my drive way with the keys in it and no-one would steal it. I would liike fix it but its just not worth it. By the time I buy all new body panels(fenders, doorskins, rockers, quarters, ect) have the floor pans and frame re-done, and get a decent paint job. I could have a real nice Z or ZX with all that stuff done for alot cheaper. If I could find one I'd like to get a car with a low amount of rust but with a bad motor or no motor, and stick mine down in it(or redo my turbo motor and put it in).

If you've bargained dad down to $3K then you should give him a deposit now! then give him some money everymonth....Of course if you go as far as a written agreement make sure that you add " If the car is wrecked the deal is off or re-negotialable " not saying his dad would try to screw ya but ya never know....besides that way he cannot sell it to someone even if they offer more unless you agree and you get a cut of the difference....
