I looked through the factory service manual and there are 20 pages devoted to the climate control system (they simply call it "auto"). I could send you the electrical diagram page if that would help. It appears that there is a rheostat connected to the air mix door which probably explains why the blower kicks back on when you move the controls. The problem could be with that rheostat or the "blower amplifier".
There is a service manual on ebay right now, auction ending in an hour, that you might want to consider getting. However, with this particular problem, there isn't a lot of info - most of the section is about fixing the temperature control, not the blower.
