Yup thats how you do it.

Jeez I use a pool cue wrapped in sandpaper. I check all the cues first by rolling them on the table, and steal the straightest one.

That's one way...

There's another cheaper way to do it, but not recommended. That jig can get center to center distances correct, whereas the other method that indicated off the original bores does not...

Cam towers are easily welded and offset bored for correct c-to-c distance, but it's harder and harder to find automotive shops that do that kind of stuff and stand behind the work (many places are now scared to let someotn in to check stuff with their own instruments...)
