Anybody have a recommendation? I need an air flow meter for my 1980 280ZX. I can buy one used for $150 from z-car motorsports in Fla., I can get a rebuilt one from British Victoria for $250 + core cost or I can get a new one from Nissan or Nissan Auto Parts for ~$400.

I am worried about reliability, warranty and of course price. I would also appreciate any other suggestions of places to shop (I got e-mail from all z-east but haven't called them yet).

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,
I got mine from Motorsports California for about 180 not counting the 100 dollar core. It is a rebuilt and it works great.

Re: Air flow meter

Eric,

I got an air flow meter for, as I recall, about $5 at a pick-your-part in Bakersfield a year ago or so. The girl at the checkout didn't know what it was. I kept saying air flow and she kept running her lavishly decorated fingernail up and down a list. Finally she said air cleaner? Well, it wasn't really a lie to say yes, was it? Anyway, at those prices, even if it was no good when you got it home, you could keep running the same play until you got a good one. Unless the girl got wise, of course.

Don't you just love those pick n' pull type places. Ignition switch with key was $8.
