AFM question?

225 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  2eighTZ4me
How can you tell what year AFM you have? My AFM is missing the plate at the bottom to hold it down. I think I had to be changed at some point & I'm thinking it was changed with another year cuz I think the bolt pattern is different. Any help would be appreciated........

Where the plate bolts to the AFM - if there are 3 8x1.25 holes in a triangular fashion that holds the plate in place - that's an early - I think 77 and 78 AFM. If it has 4 holes on the bottom of the AFM in a rectangular fashion, then it's a later model - 79+. Someone will probably correct me, but I just replaced mine and they have an adapter plate now that sandwiches in between that is drilled for the 3 hole to mount to an early style Z.
I have a 75 & I'm tryin to buy the plate but I want to make sure I get the right used one.........
Your 75 should have the 3 bolt pattern on the bottom. Worst case - pull it from the engine bay and flip it over and see how many bolts hold the plate to the AFM.
