hi
i have a 77 that i just got running last week it was running a little rich and was fouling plugs i went to start it today and it started and i went to back out of my drve when it died. ot now starts and very roughly runs at a low idle if i give it gas it cuts out completely and dies. it is getting fuel and spark so im thinking afm is this a probability. the cold start injector was bad last week and it acted similar but gas was backing up into the afm. i truly love the car its going in for paint this week and i would like to drive it in so i hope you can help

If the cold start valve was bad, what fixed it? If its leaking or stuck open either mechanically or due to the thermotime switch being grounded all the time (cold), I'd replace one or both. Its the only way I can see that gas would get into the AFM. The temp sensor is another culprit. Check the resistance per the FSM. Finally, the AFM could be it. I replaced mine and its acting similar to yours. Mine is ok when warm, though.
