hey, dont bust the man, he drove 150 miles! call up exon and let them know! If they knew acetone did good things for the environment they could put it in all thier fuel!
Ways to save some gas costs with your Z....(tested with an 87 na)
* new plugs...wires...dist cap & rotor.
* advanced igntion?
* check gas cap to see if it holds pressure...check EVAP system (charcoal can & lines)...my Z gets better mpg thru the first 3-4 gallons..running on vapor?
* use synthetic oils in the engine...trans...diff...maybe 3% gain in mileage?
* new O2 sensor (if the old one isn't up to snuff)...possible 10-12% gain in mileage...found this out by replacing it.
* a non functioning EGR might cost you 10% in mileage...found this out by disabling mine.
* tire pressure up to max (be SURE and check for good traction)....maybe a 3-5% gain?
clownsrus. thanks 4 the support, but i really dont think the big oil companies or our friends and they dont want ereryone to save 15 to 20% on their milage, also this acetone mixture has been around since it the first oil lies they started in the seventies
car companies would inclde 1000 gallons of acetone if they could claim a 1 mpg claim. you have to stop tthinking milage and start talking emmisions. thats what the government cares about, for some stupid reason.
my point, we almost got rid of epople posting 1 tank gains using acetone. there should be no posts about the gains for at least 3 months from the time a driver starts his metering.
if gains are shown ater that many miles, great, at least ifs halfway reliable, but overall emmisions, who knows.
an example of what i mean, if the taxes on a gallon r 65 cents and u by 5 gls to go 150 miles - 3.25.if u use 6 gals to go 150 miles that equals 3.80 , times all the cars in the country, the gov takes a big hit
