AC Question

Does anyone know if freon you buy from auto parts stores to recharge your AC system is as effective (or the same) as freon that a professional automotive AC shop would use?

Assuming You buy the purest available...no dye, additives etc. Do they add propellants or is it less effective in any way?

Freon should be Freon right as long as you buy the right stuff?

Seems I can never get the AC quite as cold as it should be.

Considering the Z31 series were designed to use R12 as a refrigerant, it would not surprise me that refilling with R134a would reduce aircon cooling capacity.
mister-T has it right. freon is not just freon there is 22, 12, 134 and a couple others all with dissimilar chemical formulas and physical properties. and if you did fill it with 134 it will probably do some damage to parts of the system.
R134 never has gone into this car. That was a typo.

Assuming the correct freon was used.....ANYONE ?
