Greetings, I just rebuilt my L28 in my 1981 ZX. During the process I installed a new AC compressor. Withour it being charged I tried to get the clutch to engage. It would not. Is there some kind of lock-out that will not allow it to engage without a charge?? Thanks, Lew

Your compressor will not engage until charged. There is a pressure switch on the dryer that will not allow the compressor to run without being charged. I recently changed my 82zx a/c system to r134 gas. It cools fine, but takes a little longer to cool than the freon did. Much less expensive.
