First of all, I was wondering If anyone knew of any zcar clubs in northern California and any good z stores.

My Second question is about the molding that goes around the tail lights on a '77 280z 2+2. Are the crome pieces that go around the tail lights part of the tail light lens or is it seperate. I ask because it appears to be seperate but in a catolog I have the crome piece is included with the tail lights.

The chrome pieces are seperate, are screwed on, and may not be available new anymore. We have used, but if it is for the driver's side, expect some exhaust checking on the finish. Joe

There are no Z-specific stores in NorCal, but there's lots of pretty baubles at a place over on the way to the Oakland Airport. Hegenberger is the turnoff I think. Anyway, this place (I can't remember the name) is like three or four doors away from that huge Harley dealership. You can't miss that. Just look next door. They (the car place) has all the usual eye candy - Recaro, Eibach, Tokico, Momo and scads of wheel/tire combos. It's fun and although most of it is meant for more modern jelly beans, they don't sneer when you mention Zs.

AS for the molding, it's separate. Go to your local self-serve junkyard, pick out some taillights with nice chrome trim and remove it. Mine, which shined up really nice, cost $3 each.

There is the Z Owners of Northern California (ZONC), check out their website. In Richmond, there is Z Doctor (more repairs), and in Fremont, there is Dando's Automotive (510)659-7900???(good for anything). If there are any others, please let me know, as I live in the East Bay Area.

Yep, Dando's does everything, and he's good at it.
No big egos or anything. Besides, he knows what he's doing after building AND racing in ITS, and WINNING the CHAMPIONSHIP 4 or 5 times, I forget.

Scott Performance (Santa Clara), is not all that great. He can do decent work, but has a HUGE ego, and tends to knock everybody elses work. I don't care for that type of personality. I've yet to see a car at NASA or SCCA events with a Scott Performance banner on it. I've seen plenty with REBELLO RACING (engine) and DANDO'S PERFORMANCE.

So, where in the east bay do you reside?? I live in Santa Clara, used to live in Newark. That ZONC is in Concord, and the reason I haven't joined. It's just a little far to go and talk car stuff for me. All of their events seem to be located up there also. There's never anything going on locally in the South bay. I'm sure there are others in the Southern part of the bay that would like to meet somewhere down here, instead of WAY up in Concord.

I live in Lafayette, near Rebello in Concord. I have had great experiences with Dando's, and I talked to Scott Performance today and wasn't very impressed. Having a shop with a good attitude and customer service is almost as important as their mechanical ability. I too have not yet joined ZONC, but I'm going to try to make it to the autocross on Jan. 31 at the Oakland Colisium even if it is Superbowl Sunday. Most of their events are too far for me, Thunderhill and Laguna Seca. I haven't seen any events at Sears Point. We need another dragstrip in the bay area besides Sears Point!

Well, there anen't any clubs over here in Ukiah dedicated to Z's ,either, but I am back on stream and would be happy to offer anything I have learned thus far. Got a running '77 and a '76 project car (no rust) for someone who is interested. This is more like finding a puppy a new home! I'm afraid it is going to the junkyard real soon if there are no takers -(ignition problems too complicated for me to troubleshoot), but a great engine. A lot of my parts are located South of Chico.

I would like to hear from other s in Northern California.
