Just a couple of questions about getting my a/c up and running. I have an early 74 with the York comp that sits above the alternator. The compressor is frozen. I don,t even have it anymore. I am hoping that the condenser and the evaporator are still in working order and that I could by a new or rebuilt compressor for a 280 that would fit on the bottom, drivers side of the engine. My questions are 1. Does anyone have any advice on how to check these components or previous experience with this. 2. What needs to be done to adapt the system for 134a? I have heard some people say that the z-car a/c converts rather easy to 134a and that the only serious change needed is replacing the condenser with a larger one because of the decreased cooling efficiency of 134a. I live in the metroplex and it is starting to get warm. Thanks in advance.
