Does anybody know how to trace backward the numbers on the computer back to the part number, or figure out what month/year-to-month/year it is compatible with? For example, these numbers are on the computer: A18-613 500 4427. Another: A18-631 504 905. Another A18-631 504 4821. Lastly, A18-613 500 4425.

Thank you in advance.

No sir. I'm trying to determine if the 85 computers I bought off of eBay are right for my car. My car was manufactured in 8/84. The 85 microfiche has a part number for my car that goes from 4/84 to 3/85. The computers I bought, in hind sight, may be for a date after 3/85.

I think I understand what you're asking but I don't know if there's a code that breaks the info down to that level of specificity. I can tell you that my car has a 7/85 date on it and I'm using an '84 ecu, if that helps.

I was having problems with my computer on my 84 N/A . I went to the junkyard and got one off an 84 only to find the same problem still exhisted. I went back to the junkyard and they let me exchange it for one out of an 90 300 zx with the same moter . That computer is still in my car and I am having no problem at all my 84 manufacturing date is 1/84 so I would say it will work unless it is for a turbo and you got a non turbo.

Thanks for the replies! Although, I borrowed an 86 computer from a friend one time, same engine and everything except wrong year, and it (computer) promptly overheated and died. Thankfully it was his backup computer. He totaled the car about 6 months later, and thus never needed it.

A better question I should have asked is does anybody know what these numbers on the computer stand for, A18-613 500 4427? Is there a hidden date in there anywhere?

<http://z31.com/oboard/archives/view.pl?53> An index for you, the part #s for your original post are as follows...

A18-613 500 4427 -> 23710-01P00/A18-613500
A18-613 500 4425 -> 23710-01P00/A18-613500
A18-631 504 905 -> 23710-01P10/A18-631504
A18-631 504 4821 -> 23710-01P10/A18-631504

Format of above is...
Nissan part number/ECU code

Note that the last 3-4 digits only serves to ID the particular ECU produced, not the actual part.

Hope this helps

These were found under the
"FEDERAL NONTURBO
5spd
NMC/JECS"
section

Thank you very much catman3456!

Although, I'm having trouble with the part numbers on the site. I think there may be a typo on one of them.

The part number (23710-01P10) for
FEDERAL NONTURBO
5spd
NMC/JECS
1984 23710-01P10/A18-631504

is the same as
AUTO TRANS
NMC/JECS
1984 23710-01P10/A18-614501

One is for a manual trans. and the other is for an automatic.

My microfiche says the 23710-01P10 is for an automatic. (I have a manual trans.) The part number 23710-01P01 is for a manual trans. for the time period I'm looking for (4/84 - 3/85).

Am I wrong or is it impossible for an 'ECU for a manual trans.' to have the same part number as an 'ECU for an automatic trans.'?

Thanks for the help.
