I'm having a **** of a time with my latest investment. when first purchased it ran good now i'm having no luck at all. how do i fix this irratic idle?? there are no adjustment screws. I replaced the fuel pump because it was making noise. It still is making noise and the car still stalls out at idle speed. The major problem is that the car wont even start now. All i get is a stong smell of gas vapor from the xhaust. I checked my spark (It's there) now i'm stuck. Any suggestions? Someone help this car's body for the year is in too good of shape to let go!

I had the exact same problem with my 81Z. I had the fuel pressure regulator replaced and it solved the problem.

Hope this helps

Way to go on the help call. It worked out perfectly. There was a leak in the regulators vapor bypass directly into the manifold...
Once again thanks a million...
