Hi,
I think I can much the engine number to the vin number for an 82 280 zxt but for some reason I can't find the engine number on the engine. Does anyone know where can I find it?
Also, is there a way I can see a number on the transmission that could be traced to the vin number to make sure that it's the original trans? Or can a mechanic figure out if the orginal trans has been changed?

The engine number should be located on a rectangular pad on the passengers side of the engine block. The pad is near the top of the engine just bellow the head, back by the fire wall. The number should start with a L28 for a 280z and be followed by the engine number. At times the number may be difficult to read because of dirt and rust on the number pad.
