There is a 82 280ZX for sale near me and I went to lok at the car awhile back , it had a brand new paint job, that made it look like a sports car. The clutch is gone so it needs a new clutch, how much does a clutch cost to repair if I do the repairs myself. also on the passenger side below the door there was a peice of metal that had been bolted on and it wasn't too strong. Is this a big thing that I should worry about, does it have alot to do with the main support or does it not make a difference if it is just a thin peice of metal. also the interior is kind of torn up but I have another 81 280ZX that I can ust the interrior from. The car costs 400 bucks. Is this something I shoudl consider buying or should I wait for one that doesn't need a clutch and has the original body in good condition. Thanks

I'd Buy it

if it runs, it is worth 400 dollars in parts if nothing else. Check the freame rails and floor pans. if they are rusted it might not be the best car to spend a lot of money on. As far as the clutch goes, a whole kit can be gotton for less than 200$. If your flywheel and pressure plate haven't been ruined from it you can replace the disc for like 25$, i was able to do this on one and it worked like new. Plan on a good days work if you aren't familiar w/ doing clutches. They aren't hard at all just heavy. But save yourself a few hours and take 20 minutes to double check all torques and aligment before you try to slide the tranny on. g/l h/f
