Good morning all,

This last weekend, I finanally got all the parts together to Tune-Up / Repair my car.(1981 280ZXT Stock, Auto Tran) I replaced the all six injectors (3 leaking) with Reman Python Injectors. I also replaced the cap, rotor, wires and plugs and Fuel filter. (all parts were Bosch or NGK)

The car had been running well until this point (even with the leaking injectors), IE good power, smooth idle, etc. After replacing the above, however, The car has a rough idle (still hovers between 600-700) but it doesn't sound happy. It is slower, and is backfiring (though the intake, I believe) under load. I haven;t adjusted the timing (My timing light was "borrowed" by a neighbor who moved to Nova Scotia).

I pulled the spark plugs and checked the gap, okay according to the FSM. Checked all the vacuum connections for leaks (using propane torch). Pulled and recleaned injector connectors. Verified firing order for Plugs.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try next?

Thanks

Check injectors: Get a long screw driver and listen for constant clicking sound on each injector while engine is running. If OK, remove wire connector from each injector one at a time (and re-install of course). Where you don't notice any significant drop in rpm, that injector is faulty.

Check new wires for continuity (I bought new set of wires myself, just to find that one wire was defective!)

Check timing: barrow timing light from your other neighbor (but don't go to Nova Scotia!)

Hope this helps.
