I can buy a 1981 280ZX 2+2 for a real good deal. And the drivetrain in my 240 is getting worn out. I've got 218,000 miles on it and I think I can swing a swap for about what it would cost to get repairs. So, my question is, can I use the drivetrain from the 2+2. I'm assuming that I have to use my 240 driveshaft as the 2+2 is longer. Can I use the rear end? 5-speed? Any problems with this setup, or is it basically a bolt in? Also, what type of bushings should I use? Thanks.

You can use the engine, if you make provisions for the fuel pump, the 5spd will fit, however you have to modify the tunnel, or the linkage on a 70.
the differential will also fit, using a mustache
bar off of a 280z, and thefront diff mount has to be turned around, or changed, (can't remember on the 70, and early 71), but we have done it. Joe
