As much as I love my 79 280zx and the mileage on it(132,000),it has some hidden leak that is nearly impossible to find!!! It all started when I connected my heater core (disconnected it when started to leak over the summer) and put some stop leak in the car and, behold I have heat!

Now all of a sudden a hose starts to leak, I replace it, problem solved...or so I thought.

Started to leak again a couple of days later, find out that the big hose on the top o' the radiator is spraying coolant all over my fuel injector ports and everywhere else! That was an easy one to fix, and now, you won't believe this but its leaking again in the same area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(I hope this emphasizes how crazy this delema has made me and how sick coolant smells)

it is driving me crazy and I don't want to take it to some shady mechanic...at least not yet when I know that a lot of people here that have information like that. Anything useful will definetly be looked into and really be appreciated too.

My 79' with almost the exact same mileage just popped a head gasket,
My first indication was coolant leaks.......

Good luck!,

My guess is you've already tried this, but just in case:

Take the hoses off again, clean the metal parts fairly well, and before reinstallation, put a fair amount of silicone sealant on the metal parts. Put the hoses back on, twist them around gently a little bit to make sure the silicone is evenly spread and seals all around. Then wait for it to cure.

If that doesn't solve the leaking, I don't know what will. It solved the leaks on my '78 Z, and they were so bad the water was spraying all over from 3 different locations. Three bucks of silicone and an hour's work fixed it.

Somebody suggested that to me and I thought stop leak could fix that but I better just get that replaced (of course i'll make sure that is the problem first!)

Is that about the peak mileage of the 280zx?

Thankyou for your help too!
