78Z rear suspension rebuild question

I am getting a complete rear end. Diff, a arms, axle shafts etc. Should I rebuild this with new bushings, springs, struts, etc and then install? Seems logical as I could still drive and rebuild at the same time.. Then just unbold old and install new.

I would go ahead and put on polyurethane bushings in the back. Your springs could probably use replacing too. I would just do the whole car. The back is the hard part anyway. Don't forget sway bar bushings they make the biggest difference from what I've heard. Sam 75 280z, 81 280zxt

Hi Joe,

How do you come across such nice deals. This is great and the way to go. Get everything read and then just swap it in. What about the rear end gears... I would go for at least a 3.90... but if ya do, I would change out to the later 5 speed... or your going to be reving higher to get the same speeds.

Talk to Steve VR and see what he can add.

Cheers,
Dennis
