I have a question and I hope someone out there can help me. I have a 1978 280Z and I have replaced the rear end with a R-200 from a 1977 with fewer miles than mine. I was wondering if I could replace the rear end with a 84-88 300Zx rear end due to the later production of the rear end. The one I have now still has pinion gear noise but it was an improvement compaired to the original rear end. The gear ratio I am interested in is the 3.54 or the 3.70. Will my original driveshaft and halfshafts fit directly on the later model ZX. I really do not want to modify my 280Z with welding. I just want to have less road noise and no pinion gear noise on deceleration.
Thankyou very much for any information.

Monty, Why not use the 280zx 3:70 ratio, which is a bolt in? We have them for 100.00+freight

would this be a direct fit including a 4-speed? or would modifications be needed on a 2+2 78 Z ?
