Be gentle with me, guys, I know I'm committing heresey by even mentioning this, but I'm thinking (just thinking, haven't done it...) of an inexpensive quick-fix for a broken piston rod.
Has anyone ever actually tried this: replace a broken piston rod with an intact one that you pulled from a junkyard L28?
If you've actually done it, please let me know how it worked out. I figure it might give me several thousand more miles on the engine before it finally wears out for good and needs a complete and proper rebuild.
Also, can a rod be removed while the engine's still mounted in the car? I have access to a lift bay and can work on it from underneath.
