i just bought a 77 when you take off and rev up past 2 grand and let off on the accelerator the engine still revvs up untill you come to a complete stop and will idle down after 3 to 4 secounds sound like it could be vacuum leak but not sure could anybody give me some things to checkout thanks dan

it might be the dash pot that is held onto the top of the throttle body.they tend to stiffen up with age.take it off & throw it out. OR it could be the BCDD,check 'search zcar.com'.that's too much typing for me.

Sounds like the BCDD. You can remove the AFM/TB boot, cover the hole in the throttle body for the BCDD with something that won't get sucked in (strong tape) and try it out for the high idle. This is usually the problem.
