I HAVE A 76 280Z THAT IS RUNNING RICH.WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED ON I CAN HEAR ONE OF THE INJECTORS SPRAYING FUEL.IT IS THE 3RD ONE FROM THE FRONT.WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND I GIVE IT GAS IT BRAKES UP BAD.BUT IF I KEEP THE GAS IN ONE SPOT IT DON'T DO IT.THE TPS IS UNHOOKED.THE KID I GOT THE CAR FROM SAID THE TPS WAS BAD.WHEN THE TPS IS HOOK UP IT RUNS WORSE.ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

First, if you don't have a FSM (factory service manual), invest in one. You can order one on the www.ideal-z.com web site.
You need to test the tps to see if it works, more than likley it is out of adjustment or one of the pins inside the cover is bent.
The tests for the tps and all the FI subsystems are in the engine fuel section of the FSM.

As johnb510 said you need to troubleshoot the whole f/i system. I'm guessing that with the tps hooked up it is just causing it to run much richer and that you have a problem with either fuel pressure, or high resistance in the coolant temp sensor circuit. The tps is probably ok, just exacerbating some other problem. The tps is just a two position reed switch. It should be fairly easy to check.
