Hi guys!
I've got a 240, 1973 made for the European market. It's "born" with a 5 speed manual type FS5C71B trans.
When you guys talk about 5 speed trans f. examble from 280 ZX, what type is it.
Is it the same type I have? I'm looking for a spare one.

From what I have heard - the earlier transmissions were much like the 4-speed except that they had a 5th, higher gear. So, 1st thru 4th would basically be the same as a regular 4-speed. The newer transmissions - from later ZX's had different gear ratios. 1st gear was lower then the 1st gear in an old 5-speed or 4-speed.

It is not the rating of the different gears thats interest me, more the housing of the trans.
At the 5 speed I have, the shift goes directly into the rearendhousing of the trans,
not via some rubberbushings as I have been told the 4 speed does, more or less the same type as on the 510, which I also have been driven for long time.

Check this Transmission & Gears listing at Zhome.com.

Your transmission is also listed with its corresponding ratios. This should give you some idea of what other transmission model years may fit.
