Hi all, I just want your oppinions on my little race car. first the setup.

Engine- ld28 crank, l24 9mm rods, 87mm z22s shave to 0 deck heigth. high pressure oil system, with either turbo oil pump or nismo race pump. blocked off bypass, using rebuildable oil filter. E31 head milled down far 45mm intake 38mm exhaust, flow bench ported, cam similar to nismo l4 race cam. comp ratio of 11.5:1 toward 12:1

intake- 4bbl holley, with nitrous

exhaust-MSA 6-1 hedders, to a bypass openend valve, to a muffler in the back with decent backpressure, to get a little more torque.

tranny- for now '80 5speed going to a 3.9 or 4.11 rear end. centerforce dual friction clutch, using the turbo flywheel.

All the components in engine are balanced, the diff. and tranny are still undecided. I want to have fun with this car, not a daily driver, maybe do a little racing. I am looking for good acceleration, without loss of top end speed. i am thinking of using a t56 tranny, but who knows. I have the 80 5 spd for now. What else should i do or take in consideration. i am preety set on a 3.9 or 4.11. What would you have done differently on a race car, with money constraints of course.

Lose the 4bbl, if you want top end, I would go with at least tripple webers or mikunis. But you can set the 4bbl up and run decent for about $400 - well I have that much in extra jets & chokes for my tripples, not to mention the price of tripples themselves, then good air cleaners before long you've got at least $1000 in a tripple setup. For that kind of money you could go aftermarket fuel injection and really take advantage of your engine.

Don't try the t56 onto the L28 even built to the max, normally aspirated you won't have the power to pull that 6th gear and for the cost alone just swap in the whole V8/t56 combo and be ahead in power and cost.
