Does anyone have a reliable price tag for my beat up 83' 280zx, 2+2, 5speed, with 200k+ miles. all in all i'd say my poor lil car is in pretty bad condition, i'm just trying to find out what i should ask for it.

500 or less
maybe better to donate to charity & get a writeoff

Agree.

Probably better off selling parts locally and online.
post it for sale and say "make an offer"
Part it out, you'll get more money
WOW This is not what I would expect from a ZCar enviroment! Destroy the car for more money?! Donate to some charity to save money where it will probably be smashed!? Why do you not try to fix it up or just post it and see what people ask for it. DO NOT REDUCE THE NUMBER OF Z!!!!!!!!!!
It's not a Z, it's a ZX 2+2. AKA a maxima with a different (uglier)body style, at best...The best thing to do with those cars is strip the drivetrain out and put it in a Z. Definitely not worth restoring.
Without good pictures, asking for a value on a car is like pi$$ing against a 60 mph wind. Really this is a big Noob request.
However unless it is primo ( which he says it's not) it is still a 2+2 and not as desirable as a coupe.
So to accuratly answer the question - it is worth next to nothing to me. However to the right person it may make a good parts car. Look upon it as an organ donor so that other zx 2+2 's may live on.
Yes we need to see a picture of your 2+2.

ce complete their projects.
Parting it out is not bad. You aren't talking about a high value collectible. Plus, you help others who have more money than sense complete their projects. Look at the threads I started on my incredible deal, driving, $200 zx. Bottom line, its going to cost more time and money than you believ!!!e
Whenever I have a car for sale, I do an e-bay and craigslist search to check the market, and price accordingly. It ensures a quick sale at a fair price.

It's not that bad but it's not that great. Right on the edge of, sell asap and project. I just don't have the money to work on it right now. Honestly, if I had the money I wouldn't sell my Z.

Spoken like a true elitist...

A car is worth whatever an owner is willing to put in it. The suggestion to junk it is, while financially sound in some ways, not true to classic car roots. As an owner of a '73, I would think your opinion would be to at least consider the historical value of the car and if you truly feel it should be put out to pasture, consider another hobby. While I understand the ZX is undesirable to many Z owners, it is still historical and has been the entry level for many people into Z ownership. It's an age old argument, I know this first hand, but to disregard the car like you did seems counter-productive to keeping Z-cars in the public eye.
Why does it have silver interior on a black car? Does it run well? i.e. smooth acceleration...doesn't have to be fast...and it won't...it's a 2+2. Is the body in good shape or are there dents all over. If good, you could get a grand.
If it's nickel and diming you to death, and runs/drives less than well, it's in the $500-$1000 range. That said, a 2+2 in running shape is perfect for parting out because of the different interior parts that ONLY fit a 2+2. I have bought 3-4 rusty cars in the $500 range that I then spent time and effort parting out and very easily quadrupled my money on each one of them for a winter project, but it does take time and patience. On most of the cars, I sold nearly everything but the stripped body/frame.

The interior is tan and brown, not my farovite but I like it. Right now it has a lil trouble starting up but once it's warm it gets up and goes and thats all i ask of it. It does have an unattractive exhaust leak. The body looks like a little league team had batting practice with it, every panal is flawed and there is the typical rust spots mainly around the windshield.
