Hi,
The air flow meter on my 1981 280zx turbo has gone bad. Can I replace it with an AFM from any year 280zx turbo? Also would the AFM from a federal car work on a California car?

Thanks for the help,
Josh

I thought ALL ZX's were "california" and had cats...

i know in 77-78 they offered federal models with no cat.. and "california" models with a cat....

You should probably go with the turbo AFM. Turbo AFMs flow better. The fuel/air mixture ratio will have to be adjusted on a non-turbo AFM.
Also, before you get a new one, try cleaning the connections on the bottom of the AFM, and moving the flap on the inside.
