Re: 4" n/m

i haven an '81 turbo, i recently went through what you are about to. i replaced the stock stereo and speakers. i alked to a speaker shop about haveing them replac them and they said it would be like $200 and a full day of work. I looked at it and did it myself in about 1 hour. you can do it, not too hard. just unscrew the stock stereo, cigarette lighter, ash tray set up which is held in by 4 screws. also take off the panels with the lights on the under side of the dash. then you will find four more screws across the whole dash that can be undone with phillips screw driver or 10mm socket. also, under the little caps on the top of the dash near the windshield are four more screws. take them out. next you will need to take off the plastic around the turn signals and wipers. after all that is off you can then move the dash out and it gave me enough room to take out the old speakers and screw the new 4" polks in place. all together about an hour to an hour an a half. good luck and tell me if this works for you. bama

what size are the rears, i believe there 6in but they might also be 61/2 in
i used 5 1/4 inch in the rear, that is what circuit city told me. it looked like the 4" holes lined up better with the original, but i had to cut it with a sawsall. behind the seats was an awful spot, all the sound is blocked. i modified the rear panel below the hatch and had a custom made box for the 12" sub in the back. now my car not only looks great but sounds nice too. bama
i don't know how many times this will show up, computer keeps jackin up. but circuit city told me 5 1/4 but they didn't line up with the original holes, the 4" did, (in the coupe). i modified the rear panel under the hatch and put them there facing towards the front. behind the seat blocked a lot of sound. i had a custom 12" box made for the sub and now it sounds great and looks awesome. good luck, bama.
